Effective Assertion in the Workplace

For all levels of associates
Assertion is necessary for collaboration, relationship building and effective problem solving in the workplace. This workshop explains what assertion is, looks like, feels like and its impact upon an organization. Further, participants explore dysfunctional behavior patterns that can become dominant within a workplace if assertion is not embraced. 

Participants learn to:
  • Describe the three types of workplace assertion
  • List what one needs to be assertive
  • Work through the eight steps to becoming more assertive
  • Practice assertion to avoid misunderstandings and to resolve potential conflicts

 

Managing Conflict

For all levels of associates
One of the most frustrating and complicated aspects of communication is managing conflict. Despite the fact that conflict is a natural disagreement resulting from individuals or groups that differ in attitudes, beliefs, values or needs, it is often the foundation for many of today’s workplace woes.

Participants learn to:
  • Identify the common ingredients of conflict
  • Assess how they handle conflict and confrontation
  • Describe five conflict resolution modes
  • Demonstrate the four-step assertion process
  • Deal more effectively with difficult or challenging people

 

Effective Team Communication

For all levels of associates, with a mixture of peer groups
How do eagles, St. Bernards, owls and dolphins work together effectively? This workshop is designed to outline the contributions and considerations obtained through varying personalities. Learn to recognize personality differences within your team, and explore how they affect team development and communication.

Participants learn to:
  • Identify their personality type using Keirsey’s Four Temperaments
  • Recognize the probable personality types of coworkers
  • List the stages of team development
  • Describe team member needs based upon their personalities and the stage of team development
  • Explain how to better relate to different personalities during their team’s current stage of development
  • Assess the development stage of their team
